How To Make a Website
follow this page step by step and you'll have your very own .COM website up within an hour :)

1) First, you need a domain name - this will be your URL, I highly recommend a .COM. Go to www.Godaddy.com to search for available website domain names. Keep in mind it should be:

  • Relatively short (easy for your visitors to remember)
  • A .COM - the are simply the most common, professional domain name. This will cost you ~$10 for a 1 year registration :)


    • 2) After finding and purchasing a domain from Godaddy, you need a website host (ex. HostGator). HostGator is simply the best website host on the market. 24/7 support, inexpensive, and very reliable, with all the features you'll ever need.

    Since you're just building your first website, I recommend the BABY PLAN ($4.95 a month) - It's their most inexpensive solution but has more then enough resources for you and your website.

    After you selected your plan (click here for a direct link to the HATCHLING plan), on the right side, enter the DOMAIN NAME (step 1) you purchased from Godaddy like so:



    Continue with HostGator's simple checkout process - After you signup, they send you an email (with the email you use in the signup process) with the account information after you pay. Once you get your account information sent to you (~10 minutes after paying for your plan), look in the email for your NAMESERVERS, they should look SOMETHING like these, but with different numbers:

    NS1057.HOSTGATOR.COM
    NS1058.HOSTGATOR.COM

    Once you have located YOUR nameservers in the email, open up a new Internet tab and go to Godaddy, Login, and go to the DOMAIN MANAGER -- Click on the Domain you registered, then scroll down to "NAMESERVERS", click the blue MANAGE link, then check the box that says "I have specific nameservers for my domains.", and enter YOUR NAMESERVERS you received in the email from HOSTGATOR with your account information" (replace the ones currently in the text boxes. Example:



    Save your changes by clicking OK, and you're officially "DONE" setting up your website.Give upto 24 hours for your changes to propagate, and you will be able to access your site through www.YOURDOMAIN.com.


    You're done! Now you can edit your site through your CPANEL login at www.yoursite.com/cpanel - and with the username & password you provided to HOSTGATOR for the webhosting. There are many cool things in CPANEL which you can build your site with, like Fantastico, which allows you to install PHPBB forums, WORDPRESS blogs and more with the click of a button. It's simple. Have fun.



    So, you created a website, now you need TRAFFIC / Search engine results...
